Getting Here

📅 When and where is the fete?

The Yeronga State School Community Carnival Fete runs from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 22 August 2026, at Yeronga State School, 122 Park Road, Yeronga.

🎈 How much is entry?

Entry to the fete is free — everyone is welcome! You only pay for what you enjoy on the day: rides, food, drinks, stalls and activities.

🚗 Is there parking on site?

There is no parking on site. Parking is only available in the streets around the school, and these can get busy on the day — so please allow extra time, and consider carpooling, walking, riding or public transport where you can. Please park considerately and don’t block driveways.

🚉 Can I get there by public transport?

Yes — and we recommend it! Yeronga train station and local bus routes are both a short walk from the school. Plan your trip at translink.com.au — public transport is a great way to skip the parking congestion.

🚲 Can we walk or ride?

Absolutely — active travel is the easiest way to arrive. If you’re local, walking, scooting or cycling beats circling for a park. Please walk bikes and scooters once you’re inside the school grounds.

Tickets & Payment

🎟️ How do ride passes work?

Ride passes cover unlimited rides all day and are sold per child. After you buy, we’ll email you a QR code — exchange it for your wristband at the tuckshop (before & after school, Wednesday 19 to Friday 21 August) or at any “Order / Pay” station on fete day. See the Rides & Tickets page for pricing and details.

🧒 Do parents need a ride pass too?

No — entry is free and ride passes are only needed for children using the rides. If you’re supervising your child on a ride (because they need supervision or assistance), then you don’t have to pay for a ride pass to accompany your child on the ride. But do remember that the rides are designed for children, not parents. Parents and carers can enjoy the food, stalls and entertainment without a pass.

👪 I have more than four children — how do I buy passes?

Each ride pass order covers up to four children. If you have five or more, just place a second order for the remaining children. You’ll receive a separate QR code for each order, so please bring both QR codes when you collect your wristbands.

💳 Do I need cash, or can I pay by card?

We strongly prefer payment by card or mobile — it’s quicker and easier for our volunteers. Cash will be accepted, but card is preferred at most stalls and food vans.

🏧 Is there an ATM at the fete?

There’s no ATM on site, so please bring any cash you’d like with you — or simply pay by card or phone, which works at all our Order / Pay stations.

Planning Your Day

🧒 Is the fete suitable for younger children?

Yes — there’s a great mix of rides and activities suited to younger kids as well as the bigger thrill rides for older children. Rides are clearly signed with any height or age restrictions.

🎒 What should we bring?

A hat, sunscreen and a water bottle are always a good idea, plus a picnic rug if you’d like to settle in for the entertainment and fireworks. A card or phone for payments will cover everything else. Travel light — you’ll want a spare hand for a Dagwood dog!

♿ Is the school accessible for prams and wheelchairs?

The school grounds are accessible, though some areas may be uneven grass or gravel. Volunteers on the day are happy to help point you toward the easiest paths around the grounds.

🐾 Are pets allowed?

For everyone’s safety and comfort with the crowds, rides and food stalls, this is a pet-free event — we ask that pets are left at home.

🌦️ What happens if it rains?

The fete is a rain-or-shine event, with many stalls and activities able to shift undercover. In the event of extreme weather, updates will be posted on this website and the school’s usual communication channels.

🥤 Can I bring my own food or drinks?

You’re welcome to bring water bottles and snacks for younger children. We’d love your support at our food stalls, food trucks and the bar & beer garden, with proceeds going straight back into the school.

🚭 Can I smoke or vape at the fete?

No — school grounds are smoke-free by law, and this includes vaping. Alcohol is available to enjoy within the licensed bar & beer garden area only, and BYO alcohol is not permitted.

Safety & Wellbeing

🧭 What if my child gets lost?

Speak to any volunteer or head to the nearest “Order / Pay” station and our team will help straight away. It’s a great idea to show your kids what our volunteers look like when you arrive, and agree on a meeting point in case anyone gets separated. The school hall will be FETE HQ and all operations are run from there during the day. Lost children will be taken to the school hall by a volunteer and it will also be the base for “Lost and Found”, as well as First Aid and where our volunteers will start and finish their shifts.

🩹 Is first aid available?

Yes — first aid support is available throughout the day and will be based at the school hall at our FETE HQ. Ask any volunteer and they’ll direct you to the first aid point.

👀 Do children need to be supervised?

Yes — children remain the responsibility of their parents and carers throughout the fete. Please make sure primary-aged children are accompanied by an adult.

🎡 Are the rides safe?

All rides are provided and operated by professional, licensed amusement operators, with height and age restrictions clearly signed at each ride. Please follow operator instructions at all times.

🎆 When are the fireworks — and will they be loud?

The fireworks finale kicks off from 6pm to close the fete. Like all fireworks they can be loud — if little ones (or big ones!) are sensitive to noise, earmuffs are a good idea, and there’s plenty of space to watch from further back.

🧢 What about lost property?

Hand in or ask about lost property at any “Order / Pay” station on the day and it will be taken to FETE HQ operating out of the School Hall. After the fete, get in touch via our Contact page and we’ll do our best to reunite you with your things.

Good to Know

💛 Where do all the funds raised go?

Every dollar raised goes back into Yeronga State School — supporting new facilities, resources and experiences for our students.

🤝 Can I still volunteer or run a stall?

Yes please! Every pair of hands makes the day better. Head to our Volunteering page to pick a shift, or enquire about a market stall via the Contact page.

📸 Will photos be taken at the fete?

Photos may be taken on the day for school and P&C promotion. If you’d prefer you or your family not appear in photos, just let the photographer or a volunteer know on the day.

📣 How do I stay up to date?

Keep an eye on this website and the school’s usual newsletters and communication channels — any updates (including weather calls) will be posted there first.

💬 I have another question — who do I contact?

Head to our Contact page and submit an enquiry — we’ll be happy to help.
